USA Olympian Christian Smith helps promote KansasStateCars.com

Christian Smith is shown with students from Bergman Elementary School on Jan. 23.
Bergman elementary school children watched in amazement as a former USA Olympian retold his story about watching the lighting of the 2008 Olympic torch. Christian Smith, USA track and field athlete, said walking with the USA team into the opening ceremonies was one of the greatest moments in his life.
Smith will speak about these stories and others when he visits area elementary schools in the upcoming months. KansasStateCars.com is proud to announce its newest sponsorship of former USA Olympian and K-State track and field athlete Christian Smith.
“I’m honored to speak on behalf of KansasStateCars.com while visiting area elementary schools,” Smith said. “I believe in giving back to my university, my community and the youth in the area and I am in a great position to do so through KansasStateCars.com as that is their mission. As a former K-State athlete, I know the importance of providing excellence to our student athletes.”
Smith will be discussing his Olympic experience and about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. After Smith concludes his presentation, each student will receive an autographed card provided by KansasStateCars.com.
“To have somebody with his drive and commitment for success in life, we are honored as an organization to have Christian representing us,” Russ Briggs, owner of Briggs Auto Group and KansasStateCars.com said. “He is a great mentor for young children and a great example of the Wildcat excellence KansasStateCars.com supports.”
On Jan. 23, more than 25 students at Bergman Elementary School had the opportunity to listen to Smith’s experience. Bergman principal Lori Martin asked each student to write an essay about why they wanted to hear Smith speak. Students with the winning essays earned the opportunity to attend his presentation. After Smith concluded his presentation each student was allowed time to ask questions.
“I thought he did a wonderful job of telling students to stay focused on their goals,” Martin said. “Many thanks to KansasStateCars.com for making this experience possible for our kids.”
Smith will visit Olsburg Elementary School on Jan. 30, followed by a visit to the Manhattan Catholic School on Feb. 20. To inquire about speaking engagements at your school, please contact Salena Strate with KansasStateCars.com at 785-537-8330 or email her at sstrate@briggsauto.com.
